Welcome
to the home of the big band sound!
Big Band sounds from the 30s to the 60s
THE PAVILION BIG BAND
The Pavilion Big Band was formed
in 1998 by a group of talented East Anglian musicians
with a common interest
in reviving the great sounds of the dance band era.

Playing in the Bishop of Norwich's Garden
Although
the band plays music from the 1920s up to the 1980s,
it specialises in dance
music of the 30s to 50s and the 'big band' sound of that era.
The band's wide
repertoire includes traditional waltzes, foxtrots, quicksteps and Latin numbers.
Composers and styles range from Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton
and other important big band arrangers.
The normal line-up of the Pavilion
Band comprises 5 saxophones, 4 trumpets, 3 trombones,
a rhythm section of
drums, keyboard and bass, and a male vocalist.
The
Pavilion Band performs at functions of all kinds,
such as dinner dances,
charity events and music festivals
and is always pleased to tailor the music
to the occasion!
Due to time taken in travelling,
we normally restrict functions to a 50 mile radius, or less, of Norwich.
